In your opinion, what’s the most important thing you can say to someone who is new to sobriety?
take one day at a time and seek support if you feel you need it.
Put on the damn Santa hat and get in the car!
Don’t drink no matter what!
Keep coming back….
What really stuck in my head in early recovery, was the whole allergy concept. That I had developed a physical allergy to alcohol, and that I wasn’t weak, was very helpful to hear.
“I hope it (drinking) was bad. I hope it was so bad that you never make the choice to go back. Because you never have to drink again.”
Come all the way in, sit all the way down, and stay until the miracle happens.
In spite of how it feels, and what your head tells you, you can get and stay sober. Accept the help you are offered and take it a day at a time. It will get easier, it will get better.
“Are you done for good and for all?”
Just stay 🙂
